“Originally written for violin and piano, Satoh’s calmly hypnotic piece works perfectly for erhu with it’s beautifully sinuous and sliding erhu melody set against the mesmerizing and minimalistic piano part. The erhu slides in and out of the piano texture, making its way to a more active and even frenzied moment (f natural!) before returning to its opening stillness. Audiences seem to love this exotic and moody piece, one of PEP’s favourites.”
