‘Forces of Nature’ is a tour de force of talent from across the province of alberta. All of the works were commissioned by Kensington Sinfonia, and each represents a unique perspective of life in Alberta. The future of contemporary music in Alberta is illuminated by prodigy Chanan Ngo, who is featured as soloist on George Fenwick’s “Silver City” and Donovan Seidle’s “Chinook.” The human connection to nature comes roaring through each composition and is highlighted by the newest commission from Sonny-Ray Day Rider, “The Grief Eater Firaga”. Kensington Sinfonia repeatedly sheds its skin, refreshing the contemporary landscape like “Storms over Camp creek” or a trip through the “ravenswood”. The Sinfonia is grateful to the Canada Council for its support of this recording. - September, 2023.
